However, he ultimately found his calling in writing. His debut novel, "Aller sans Retour" (Single Fare, No Return), was written while he resided in Geneva before moving to Paris. He became a prominent figure in the "le Masque" collection, a renowned series of French thrillers. Exbrayat's work also explored other settings, including Scotland (the "Imogene" series) and Italy.
